Warmer weather is slowly making its way to us opening the door to some time to work on my Fairlane finally. Almost have the engine put together now, but still have some more work to do before it is complete. Looking pretty good so far though. I put the valve covers, carburetor and breather on just to see how it is going to look. Going to be a very nice 289 build for the Fairlane. I am using one of the new Edelbrock distributors, which look almost identical to the MSD units, but cost a bit less. Don't have any feedback on them, but Edelbrock has good products typically.

Got the 289 engine all cleaned up, deburred, stoned, tapped all the holes and cleaned them all out, wiped it all down with lacquer thinner to remove any leftover oils or grease and primered and painted the block with ceramic paint. Installed the crankshaft and it rotates smooth as silk. Will get pistons and rings ready next. Still have to check end play on crankshaft, but feeling pretty good about it. Used rubbing alcohol to wipe cylinders out with and also all the bearing caps and mating surfaces to remove any fine dust or dirt before installing main bearings and also before installing pistons. Used Redline assembly grease on the main bearings. Used Clevite main bearings, and using Clevite rod bearings as well. Will be using Sealed power premium rings, and Sealed Power flat top pistons for pistons assembly, all weight matched and balanced.
